ऊर्ध्व [ūrdhva], a. Erect, upright, above; ˚केश &c.; rising or tending upwards.

Raised, elevated, erected; हस्तः, ˚पादः &c.

High, superior, upper.

Not sitting (opp. आसीन).

Torn (as hair).

Thrown up.-र्ध्वम् Elevation, height. -र्ध्वम् -ind.

[ऊर्ध्वमूर्ध्वगं नाधः पतत् रेतो यस्य] one who lives in perpetual celibacy or abstains from sexual intercourse; यतीनामूर्ध्वरेतसाम् Mb.3.233.44. (-m.)
