एकादश, [न्] त्रि, (एकाधिका दश ।) संख्या- विशेषः । ११ एगार इति भाषा । तद्वाचकौ । रुद्रः १ दुर्य्योधनसेनापतिः २ । इति कविकल्प- द्रुमः ॥ (यथा मनुः २ । ३६ । “गर्भादेकादशे राज्ञो गर्भाच्च द्वादशे विशः” ॥)

Lasting for eleven months.
शी The eleventh day of every fortnight of a lunar month, sacred to Viṣṇu; (when fasting is enjoined and is considered to be productive of great religious merit).
Presentations of offerings to deceased ancestors or Pitṛis on the eleventh day after decease. -शम् The number eleven.
