यष्टिः, पुं, (इज्यते इति । यज् + बाहुलकात् तिः । इति उणादिवृत्तौ उज्ज्वलदत्तः । ४ । १७९ ।) ध्वजदण्डः । इति विश्वशब्दरत्नावल्यौ ॥ भुज- दण्डः । इति मेदिनी । टे, २६ ॥

यष्टिः, पुं, स्त्री, (यजते सङ्गच्छते । यज् + तिः ।) तन्तुः । इति शब्दमाला ॥ हारलता । (हारा- वलिः । यथा, रघौ । १३ । ५४ । “क्वचित्प्रभालेपिभिरिन्द्रनीलै- र्मुक्तामयी यष्टिरिवानुविद्धा । अन्यत्र माला सितपङ्कजानां इन्दीवरैरुत्खचितान्तरेव ॥” “यष्टिः हारावलिः ।” इति मल्लिनाथः ॥ * ॥) भार्गी । मधुका । शस्त्रभेदः । इति मेदिनी । टे, २६ ॥ शेषस्य पर्य्यायः । दण्डः २ । लगुडः ३ इति हेमचन्द्रः । ३ । ४४९ ॥ तद्दानफलं यथा, वह्निपुराणे । “यष्टिं ये तु प्रयच्छन्ति नेत्रहीने सुदुर्ब्बले । तेषान्तु विपुलः पुंसां सन्तानो मोहवर्ज्जितः ॥” (स्त्री, शाखा । यथा, कुमारे । ६ । २ । “चूतयष्टिरिवाभ्यासे मधौ परभृतोन्मुखी ॥” “चूतयष्टिः चूतशाखा इव ।” इति तत्र मल्लि- नाथः ॥ यष्टिमधु । तत्पर्य्यायः । यथा, “यष्ट्याह्वं मधुकं यष्टिः क्लीतकं मधुयष्टिका । यष्टिमधु स्थलेजाता जलजातिरसा पुरा ॥” इति वैद्यकरत्नमालायाम् ॥)

यष्टि¦ mf. (-ष्टिः-ष्टिः or ष्टी)
1. A staff, a stick.
2. A staff armed with iron, &c. used as a weapon, a club, a mace.
3. A necklace.
4. Any creeping plant.

6. A shrub, (Siphonanthus Indica.)
7. A string, a thread, especially as strung with pearls, &c.

1. A flag-staff.

6. A branch. E. यक्ष to worship, aff. क्तिन्; the क of the compound final rejected; Va4chas- patya defines it thus:--यज् क्तिन् नि० न सम्प्रसारणम् | This word implies “thinness” “slenderness” &c. when used at the end of compounds.

यष्टि(ष्टी)क¦ m. (-कः) A bird, the lapwing. “तितिरपाखी” f. (-का)
1. A pearl- necklace, especially of but one string.

A string, thread (as of pearls), a necklace विमुच्य सा हारमहार्य- निश्चया विलोलयष्टिप्रविलुप्तचन्दनम् Ku.5.8; क्वचित् प्रभालेपिभिरिन्द्र- नीलैः मुक्तामयी यष्टिरिवानुविद्धा R.13.54.

Anything thin, slim, or slender (at the end of comp. after words meaning 'the body'); तं वीक्ष्य वेपथुमती सरसाङ्गयष्टिः Ku.5.85 'with her slender or delicate frame perspiring'.
