स्थिरः, पुं, (तिष्ठतीति । स्था + “अजिरशिशि- रेति । उणा ० १ । ५४ । इति किरच्प्रत्ययेन साधुः ।) देवः । पर्व्वतः । कार्त्तिकेयः । वृक्षः । इति शब्दरत्नावली ॥ शनिः । मोक्षः । इति मेदिनी ॥ अनड्वान् । इति राजनिर्घण्टः ॥ धववृक्षः । इति भावप्रकाशः ॥ वृषसिंहवृश्रिक- कुम्भराशयः । यथा, -- क्रूरोऽथ सौम्यः पुरुषोऽङ्गना च ओजोऽथ युग्मं विषमः समश्च । चरस्थिरद्व्यात्मकनामधेया मेषादयोऽमी क्रमशः प्रदिष्टाः ॥” इति ज्योतिस्तत्त्वम् ॥ तत्र जातफलं यथा, “अस्थिरविभूतिमित्रं चलमटनं स्खलितनियम- मपि चरभे स्थिरभे तद्विपरीतं क्षेमान्वितं दीर्घसूत्रञ्च ॥ द्विशरीरे त्यागयुक्तं कृतद्रुमुत्साहिनं विविध- चेष्टम् ॥” इति दीपिका ॥ * ॥ स्थिरवस्तूनि यथा । युद्धे प्रधानभटः १ साध्वी २ धर्म्मः ३ अधर्म्मः ४ सन्मनः ५ । अस्थिरवस्तूनि यथा । अबला १ दोला २ अपाङ्गः ३ यौवनम् ४ दुर्जनः ५ स्वामिप्रसादः ६ हस्तिकर्णः ७ स्वर्णम् ८ मत्स्यः ९ कपिः १० श्रीः ११ । इति कविकल्पलता ॥

स्थिरः, त्रि, (स्था + किरच् । कठिनः । निश्चलः । इति धरणिः ॥ यथा, -- “अब्भ्रच्छाया खलैः प्रीतिः परनारीषु सङ्गतिः ॥ पञ्चैते अस्थिरा भावा यौवनानि धनानि च ॥ अस्थीरं जीवितं लोके अस्थिरं धनयौवनम् । अस्थिरं पुत्त्रदाराद्यं धर्म्मः कीर्त्तिर्यशः स्थिरम् ॥” इति गारुडे । ११५ । २५ -- २६ ॥

STHIRA : One of the two followers given to Subrah- maṇya by Meru. The followers given to Subrahmaṇya were Sthira and Atisthira. (M.B. Śalya Parva, Chapter 45, Verse 48).
