Māhitthi, ‘descendant of Mahittha,’ is the patronymic of a teacher mentioned several times in the Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa. He is said to be a pupil of Vāmakakṣāyaṇa in the Bṛhadāraṇyaka Upaniṣad.
