A moment, any short portion of time, an instant; नवाम्बुदानीकमुहूर्त- लाञ्छने R.3.53; संध्याभ्ररेखेव मुहूर्तरागाः Pt.1.194; Me.19; Ku.7.5.
A period, time (auspicious or otherwise).
A period of 48 minutes. -र्तः An astrologer.

मुहूर्त m. a partic. division of time , the 3oth part of a day , a period of 48 minutes (in pl. personified as the children of मुहूर्त) S3Br. etc.

Muhūrta denotes a division of time, one-thirtieth of a day, or an hour of forty-eight minutes, in the Brāhmaṇas.[१] In the Rigveda[२] the sense of ‘moment’ only is found. Cf. Ahan.
