पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्।

पौत्र [pautra], a. (-त्री f.) [पुत्रस्यापत्यम् अण्] Relating to or derived from a son. -त्रः A grandson, son's son. पौत्रदौहित्रयोर्लोके न विशेषो$स्ति धर्मतः Ms.9.133.

त्री A grand-daughter.

An epithet of Durgā. -त्रम् The office of a Potṛi, q. v. -Comp. -जीविकम् an amulet made of the seeds of पुत्रंजीव plant.

Pautra (‘descended from a son’) is the regular term for a ‘grandson’ from the Atharvaveda onwards. When it is used beside Naptṛ, the latter word must denote ‘great-grandson.’
